Statement
Colin is a Consultant Physician and Cardiologist with a special interest in Chronic Heart Failure. After graduating from Dundee University in 1993, Colin trained in General Medicine and Cardiology in Tayside, Edinburgh and Yorkshire. He was a British Heart Foundation research fellow at Ninewells Hospital / Medical School between 1997-2000. He moved to Hull in 2000, completing his full training in both General (Internal) Medicine and Cardiology. In 2001, he won the prestigious Menarini Academy International Clinical Cardiovascular Research Award in Rome, considered to have carried out the best cardiac research in the whole of Europe for his work on the treatment of chronic heart failure. He has worked as a Consultant Physician and Cardiologist at the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby since November 2005. He is also an Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at the Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
Colin runs a private General Medicine and Cardiology clinic at St Hughs Hospital in Grimsby where he sees patients with all types of medical and cardiological problems. He has a particular interest in patients requiring chest pain / palpitation assessment, known coronary heart disease and risk factor management, radial-access coronary angiography, breathlessness due to suspected heart failure, symptoms in patients with pacemakers, valvular heart disease, percutaneous cardiovascular intervention, and exclusion of structural heart disease in athletes.
In his personal time, Colin enjoys travel - going to as many different countries as possible to gain exposure to many different sights and cultures (many off the beaten track). He's also taken up photography as a recent hobby when he has time. He also spends an inordinate amount of time (and spends a similar amount of money) carrying out DIY on his lovely classic old house! Scuba Diving is also a passion of his (he has achieved level of PADI Rescue Diver), and has just taken up ballroom dancing as an unexpectedly energetic sport.HMT Hospital
