Statement

After schooling in Newcastle upon Tyne, I qualified from Aberdeen University Medical School  in 1994 and undertook basic then higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedics in the Northern Regional Training Program.

In 2006 I undertook a year’s fellowship in joint replacements at the University of Toronto before commencing my consultant post with North Lincolnshire & Goole NHS Trust where I have enjoyed working since 2007.

The majority of my work consists of primary hip and knee replacements and have a special interest in revision hip replacements. I also commonly perform bunion surgery and carpal tunnel release.

My NHS practice also consists of a wide repertoire of trauma surgery and knee arthroscopy and I am orthopaedic trauma lead at Scunthorpe General Hospital.

I enjoy a role as trainer of Higher Surgical Trainees for the Yorkshire Deanery and educational Supervisor for Foundation Doctors and am active in audit (quality control) and have published research in joint replacement, maintaining standards in surgery and hip fracture management.
