Mr Pritchard is a Fellowship trained Shoulder and Elbow Surgeon. After qualifying from King’s College Hospital, London in 1991 he undertook specialist orthopaedic training in Birmingham, Wales and Australia. In 2003 he completed a fellowship with the world renowned Shoulder Surgeon Dr Joe De Beer in Cape Town, South Africa.
Mr Pritchard is currently an NHS Consultant with ABM Trust working out of Morriston and Singleton Hospitals in Swansea.
Private consultations are taken at St. David’s House in Sancta Maria Hospital. Mr Pritchard also undertakes private consultations at Werndale BMI Hospital, Bancyfelin, Carmarthen
Mr Pritchard continues to manage general orthopaedic traumatic injuries but has developed a specialist interest in all shoulder and elbow problems.
He has extensive experience in arthroscopic (keyhole) management of both shoulder and elbow injuries, including traumatic, sporting and degenerative diseases. He offers arthroscopic treatment of rotator cuff disease and instability together with the management of the stiff shoulder and other pathologies. As such a great deal of his surgery is performed on a Day Case basis. He has been involved in the assessment and continued development of shoulder arthroplasty implants (replacements) and also carries out elbow replacement surgery.
He is involved in educational projects, being on the faculty of several societies including the Watanabe Club which provides courses for arthroscopic training.
He is also on the review panels for the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (British) and the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow. He continues to be actively involved in research and has recently secured funding for a Swansea Shoulder Fellowship.
He is a member of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society and the Royal College of Surgeons.
Mr Pritchard also runs an active Medico-legal practice and has been providing reports for over ten years.
