Statement

I have worked as a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon since 2001 and my present position is with The Department of Plastic Surgery, Castle Hill Hospital, Cottingham in East Yorkshire, where I have worked since 2004.

I studied undergraduate medicine in Multan, Pakistan before going on to undertake specialist plastic surgery training in a number of locations including the UK, Ireland and America. I have held a number of positions in plastic and reconstructive surgery in the West Midlands, Northern Ireland and Yorkshire. My senior plastic surgery training was undertaken in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Pakistan, the USA and the UK.

I am registered with the General Medical Council. I am also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, a member of the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) and a member of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH). I have regularly presented at national and international meetings and have in excess of 30 publications and presentations in the field of Plastic Surgery.

I offer a full range of cosmetic surgery; face and neck lift, eyelid surgery, breast augmentation/reductions/uplift, tummy tucks, arm and thigh lifts, nose-reshaping, ear correction and hand surgery.

My specialist interests are in all aspects of facial rejuvenation surgery, breast surgery and hand surgery.

On a personal note I am a surgical team member of a local charity. I travel twice yearly to perform cleft lip and palate surgery on babies and young children in under-developed countries, who would otherwise not have the opportunity of surgical correction, and would be left untreated.

I am passionate about the work I do for the charity I am involved with - the Overseas Plastic Surgery Appeal (OPSA) and this takes up much of my free time. I have been involved with OPSA since my return to Hull as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon, in 2004. Since then I have worked as a Trustee and an active surgical team member. I take annual leave twice a year to travel to do the work. The patients we operate on are ususally babies & children from impoverished back-grounds who have no other recourse to such treatment. They would otherwise spend their lives with these horrendous disfigurements. The charity raises funds to be able to cover some of the costs for two trips/surgical camps each year. Routinely we manage to operate on between 120 and 150 patients in each camp. I also flew over to Northern Paksitan at the time of the earthquake in 2005 in order to help some of the victims who needed emergency reconstructive surgery, and have since revisited.
