Claremont Hospital Launches the Sheffield Hand Clinic

Claremont Hospital has launched the region’s first private clinic specialising in hand surgery.

The Sheffield Hand Clinic at Claremont Hospital will see two dedicated plastic surgeons – Mr Mark Hobson and Mr Gavin Miller – working with the support of a hand therapist to provide the new service.

Osteoarthritis - the degeneration of joints in the hands – and Dupuytrens – a condition where the skin thickens so the fingers cannot be straightened – are expected to be some of the more common conditions that the clinic will treat.

Mr. Hobson said: “Claremont will offer patients a dedicated centre committed to helping patients with hand related issues. We anticipate the service being popular with patients and have already made plans to expand it by having orthopaedic surgeons offering specialised wrist diagnosis and surgery in due course.”
