Cosmetic surgery – Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic surgical procedure to improve the appearance of ageing or loose skin of either or both upper and lower eyelids.

The natural ageing process causes less elasticity of the skin and this in turn leads to a drooping of soft tissues including the eyelids.

The severity of the problem depends on the skin type and on other factors such as tobacco use.

The underlying tissues may also stretch leading to a bulging of the lower eyelid in particular, which can be unsightly.
