General surgery – Colorectal surgery

Colorectal surgery is performed on the large intestine.

The large intestine is divided into the long colon and a short rectum, just before the anus.

Surgery may be necessary as part of the treatment of a range of colorectal problems including Crohns disease, Diverticular disease, polyps, ulcerative colitis and colon cancer.
